Research Software Engineer · Fraunhofer FOKUS
Refactored and stabilized the source code and APIs of a video-streaming metrics collector for DASH.js and HLS.js, reducing API response times from minutes to seconds and resolving defects. Built Grafana dashboards for a German broadcaster to visualize and analyze the metrics captured by the collector.
For GreenStreaming, built a data pipeline to collect, validate, and clean energy-consumption metrics from encoding servers, smart plugs, and TVs for ML model training.

Worked on ML-based video-encoding optimization, developing models to predict VMAF for given encoding settings and recommend suitable bitrates from extracted video features and a target encoding ladder.
